Practice ownership and clinical authority
The North Carolina Medical Board’s corporate-practice position describes physician and permitted professional ownership structures, with recognized exceptions. Entity structure and clinical decision-making should be reviewed for the specific arrangement.
The Board of Nursing’s position addresses prescriber evaluation and orders, documented competence, facility policies, and supervision. RN and LPN responsibilities differ; the position describes onsite supervision for LPN practice. Procedure-specific rules may add requirements.
The Medical Board’s laser-surgery position addresses evaluation, professional scope, training, supervision, and emergency availability. Hair removal and tattoo removal have different considerations.
Remote care must meet the applicable standard of care. If an adequate evaluation cannot be performed remotely, an in-person assessment may be needed. Licensure generally follows the patient’s location, subject to applicable exceptions.
Claims about services, results, and professional credentials should be accurate and should not mislead. Review website copy and promotional materials alongside the actual services offered.
